As promised, somewhat belated,  a photo of the non-return valve in my Caraboat, note the hose clips have rusted away, they have now been replaced with stainless steel ones.

Lovely photo’s as usual from Neil and Bev, so inspiring, I notice you don’t mention your “winged chairs” LOL.
It is fantastic to hear from Victor I wish you would post more photo’s from your archive Victor (please, please, pretty please).
I know “Ruby Tuesday” has been used as a caravan and a boat this season could we see some photo’s of “her” being used as they were designed eg caravan/boat on land as well as water.
Can I suggest any photo’s published on this site are copyrighted to prevent wide spread use without the copyright owners consent.
Best wishes

Hi Mine has "non-return" valves fitted so that the rain water can flow out when the external skin fitting are above water and prevent any canal or river water flowing in, but they are pretty useless as there is not enough back pressure to seal them.
You could install a pair of "stopcocks" or inline taps, but you would need to remeber to leave them open when not in use (4 people on board) I have seen the front well decks of many types of boats get flooded from leaky lock gates, which is why the BSS regs require self draining decks to be compleately clear of the water where possible.
I will see if I can find a Photo of the non return fitted to mine.

CaraCruiser For Sale / Re: on gumtree
« on: June 27, 2018, 08:17:16 PM »
Hi Phil, I just tried to contact the seller "Paul" to get a phone number for you but the advert no longer exists ?.
but at that price you could buy a Wilderness Beaver on a trailer easy launch and recovery, Neil will tell you all about them when he returns from his holiday.
This Caracruiser may be a scam as I had a text telling me it was on "spock" for sale at £9500, I didn't reply!!

Hi Phil, you dont register with Gumtree to enquire you just fill in your email address or make a new one your provider must allow you to have more than one? I'm with virgin and I get 10, 8 of which I use and the other 2 I change when I have finished with them.
£9,500 seem very expensive even for a nice example like this one, I can't remember one going for more than £3,000.

Caraboat General / Re: New name, new chapter
« on: June 12, 2018, 11:03:43 PM »
Hi, I get involved in the annual boat check/count with CRT, all they record is the boat number they have no interest in the boats name, think how many boats named heron or kingfishes etc  you have seen.
As Phil says if you use the 30 day explorer you don’t need to register as this type of licence is there for a visiting boat, boats on trailers and boats moving from, for instance EA waters to other EA waters via CRT waters, ironically you can get a 30 day explorer without the need for a BSC by doing a self declaration.

Hi Sarah, that is a shame that you are re-naming Mr Towed but for all the right reasons and I do like Ruby Tuesday.
So that the name is not lost, I am formally asking you and Phil if I can put it on my Caraboat as it presently has no name registered to it.

I am astonished that we had 256 people find the Caraboat site after the tv programme  and not one has joined us ? No requests to see if there are any boats for sale or even to see one close up as it were.
