Making canopies
« on: February 10, 2007, 08:06:38 PM »
Hi All,

Well looking at the cost of replacing the canopy on my Viking, I decided I would try some DIY, I found myself a industrial sewing machine on Ebay. I have yet to learn to use any sewing machine but I have purchased a new domestic one, armed with a video, they don't do lessons in college anymore, I'm ready for lessons!

My problem is the cloth material, I found some that might do on Ebay but does anyone know where to buy the material?

I propose, after seeing a nice cover on the back of a green caracruiser to make one for mine, as it looked good and would provide a weather cover plus allow me to shower privately on the longer journeys!

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Rob

Hi Rob,If you look at my photos on the caraboat general section ,you will see our canopy on Mr Towed. My wife made this from material bought from Kayospruce Ltd. (good web site lots of different marine materials and fittings). Go to www.sailcloth.co.uk    I hope this is of help to you. Phil Riley.
